We have worked tirelessly since March 2020 to protect The Hermitage residents and staff from covid-19. This as our priority, along with communication and visits in a covid-19 safe manner with family and friends. We are continuously monitoring the guidelines and reviewing our polices in line with the Government, Public Health England and CQC releases.

While living in a residential care home provides lots of friends to socialise with, we are aware that entertainment providers has been limited as to reduce any external visitors. We have increased our in-house activities to make sure a programme of both physical/mental health well-being is maintained as well as positive atmosphere. We have new technology in place for video calling to maintain connectivity with family and friends. We are also incredibly lucky that both our lounges have large windows for both families and friends to come and see their loved ones through.

Our staff are using increased levels of PPE in-line with the guidelines to protect not only our residents but themselves too. We are well-equipped and have good stock levels. We have also enrolled in the government testing scheme for both staff and residents, which is an ongoing programme. Additionally, we have temperature checks in place for all staff members at the start of each shift.

We are ensuring the care we provide is maintained to our high standards while making sure our service is well led and safe.

During this time, the generosity of family, friends, charities and local businesses has been outstanding. From home-made scrubs, biscuits, cupcakes, donations, letters, cards and many more amazing gestures. Everyone at The Hermitage is very grateful.
